HOPR’s core development team recently met in Zurich for Architecture Week, where they dove deep into everything HOPR and redefined the roadmap for the year. Here are some of the key topics: 🟡 Staking Mechanism 🟡 As we make this transition to using HOPR tokens on the network instead of mHOPR or letting nodes stake HOPR directly, considerations have to be made for the Staking UX and the general tokenomics of this transition. It is not as straightforward as it seems, and the short conclusion is a few updates to our payment layer will be prioritized in the coming two releases to precede this transition. 🟡 Rust Migration 🟡 The Rust migration continues to go exceptionally well due to both a great core team and exceptional new hires. We’re on track to reach a pure Rust runtime by the end of the year while still prioritizing feature development. You’ll see major components, such as the heartbeat mechanism and relay connection migrating in the next release. 🟡 Infrastructure 🟡 A lot of discussions surrounded infrastructure as the project continues to move exceptionally fast, with even a couple of new hires dedicated solely to DevOps. Two weeks ago, the RPCh team met up in Bogota, Columbia, for architecture week to design the upcoming roadmap for RPCh. Let’s explore upcoming features on the RPCh roadmap, starting with two that obscure traffic movement 👏 Something proxies/VPNs don’t address at all but is essential for true privacy is protection against traffic/timing analysis 🔐 The approach to transport-layer privacy has historically been one-dimensional with the core solution just being to add an intermediary to hide the source of your data from the server. But all the intermediaries in the world mean nothing if any observer can clearly distinguish traffic moving from one point to another 😅 For a true solution, considerations have to be made, so it isn’t so easy to link the source and destination of data being transferred 🔗🚫 RPCh Alpha already addresses this issue better than any VPN or proxied RPC setup with 👇 👉 Dynamic routing, selecting a new entry/exit node for every relay; this is similar to a VPN that changes more than ten times a second. 👉 And uniform packaging, where data is formatted into segmented, standardized Sphinx packets which are indistinguishable to an observer.
